4.6 towing!
I tow a 5x10 Texas Bragg utility trailer weighs 867# empty and rated to carry a 2500# load never had a problem also towed a flat bed 16' w/ a mustang cobra on it a few times. no problem there either. Just check your weight ratings and use common sense!
There are a lot of factors in towing. As the previous post said, use common sense.
What kind of terrain are you towing over? Obviously, mountains and hills are going to impinge your capabilty.
Weather - Adverse weather conditions like high wind, heavy rain or snow will bite you in a hurry when towing.
Tires - Make sure that your tire load capacity is in line with your load. Nothing worse than a blowout while towing...
Gross Weight - Tow should NEVER exceed towing vehicle weight, even when you are fudging on the rated weight (assuming factors like terrain and weather are in line). A heavy tow can cause unanticipated handling issues when coupled with speed, terrain and weather conditions. I have semi personal experience with this. My parents were towing their travel trailer at freeway speeds, well within the load limit of their truck when a downgust from a storm, in combination with a passing semi, while passing through an overpass caused them to flip the entire rig. No one was hurt, but the trailer and truck were a total.
Once again - Common sense and attention to surroundings and conditions dictate towing as much as rated vehicle capacity.
