Default 4.2L with P0174 code only

2004 heritage 6cyl
cleaned the MAF = not fixed.
sprayed brake cleaner all over vac hoses & fittings, no change.
pulled the PCV line & i believe i found it. the clue was right in front of me, as the motor had a wavering erratic idle sometimes.
the rubber elbow between the PCV valve & the PCV line stretched & tore when i pulled it off, but that wasn't it. the short hose between the plastic elbow at the valve cover & the line was loose & oil-wet. worn & suckin air.
they wanted $18 for the rubber elbow, so i bought a formed heater hose for $9 & used the portion that matched the angle of the stock hose. then i hose-clamped both hoses with 4 clamps.
now at idle the tach is dead-steady. puttin miles on it now to verify.
