302w guy needs help with 5.4
So.... I dont know much about the 5.4. Im used to my 16 valve 302w.
Specs:
2002 F150 FX4 5.4 4 Door
My dads truck has that persistant coolant manifold leak. First time we had an issue was years ago, and one of the spark plug holes (or whatever you want to call it) was filled with either coolant or rain water. Truck ran like crap. My dad drained it out, pulled the plug, turned the engine over to force out any water in the cylinder, put in a new plug and it was fine.
Last year, the manifold gasket was leaking fluid. I do not remember if any got in the spark plug hole (btw, I LOVE my plugs on the side of my Windsor head). Replace the gasket, and same problem.
Yesterday, the truck ran like crap again. My dad stops at autozone, they do an OBDII scan, and theres a misfire in the #1 cylinder. I suspect that it is the aluminum crossover in the manifold leaking, and shorting out the coil pack.
Any hints as to what it is? Im still away at college, but plan on tackling it soon. Anything I can do to stop this from happening again?
