Default 300K On A 97 F-150~Engine Gunk!

Let me start by saying I've had this truck since it had 16K on it and my uncle bought it new, so I really have only run one kind of oil in it and that's Valvoline synthetic... I always wondered if it was actually doing any good... I started out with Durablend and when I couldn't get it any longer I went with the MaxLife... Never anything but Motorcraft filter's... Well last night I got the surprise! I never would have thought it would have been like this :

Never would have thought it would have been that clean!!! I only tore it down to put intake manifold gaskets on and a PS pump... I figured while I was there I might as well put valve cover gaskets on...

That is very clean, just proves that if you take care of these trucks, this is what you get. Nice job.

Yep, that looks great! I like Valvoline oil, but it's gotten hard to find full synthetic here! So, I've had to use Mobil 1 now. I reckon it's good, all in use is full synthetic in even my lawn mower! Is that the 4.6? Everything I've read about those engines has been good.

thanks guys! yeah, its a 4.6L non pi... I had planned on taking it down sometime in the near future and putting on a set of Trick Flow heads/intake but I think i'll keep going with it and work on my Mustang some... hopefully I can get a small truck for gas mileage and work on both of them before long... here's one of when I finally got the Mustang in the new shop!
