3.73s or 4.10s??
i just put a 4 inch lift with 35s and wanting to change my gearing....what would be your sugestion???? or should i go lower?? wanting to try and keep the best gas milage also...2001 5.4
may i ask why u say 4.56s??? this is my everyday driver.but i do pull a 3-4g lb siding trailer everyday....what kind of gas milage would i exspect from the 4.56s?? i am already down to 10 mpgs already....yes it is 4wd.. and yes i know that i will have to do front and rear..local shop is telling me in the ball park of 1600-1800$ is that about rite??
There is not just the problem of returning the overall rear gear ratio close to stock. You also have to factor in the added weight of the oversize tires and wheels and the increased rolling resistance. It takes more torque to get and keep them rolling. While 4.10:1 gears seem ideal the 4.56:1 will add the lost torque.

I suggest 4.56 too. Currently I'm getting between 13.5-14 mpg in the city. Best mod I ever did, performance wise. 3.73 won't be worth your time or money and 4.10s won't do a whole lot either. I'm also not sure if they make the 4.10's for our front ends. Definitely go with the 4.56's. I went to 4wheelparts and it cost me $1400 installed with master install kit. So yeah, your price seems in the right ballpark.

$1600 is about average. About $600 for both front and rear gears then all labor. They have to be installed PERFECTLY or it can mess up the gears real quickly.
Going from 3.55 stock with 35" tires and regearing to 4.56 is about 3.77 but with all the added weight in tire and the lift, it's about perfect.
ok so i guess i will be going to 4.56s......lol....i am glad i asked the ? because i would of went to 4.10s probly and been very upset that i spent all that money and well u know!!!! ha ha...GREATLY APPRCIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hopfully within the next month or so i will be making the change>>thanks again>>>
