Default 2LO

So I've always liked having 2lo as an option on my trucks, Its really useful for launching boats as well as in a parade (parade speed is just below 1st gear at idle...)

I was wondering if anyone had done this? Basically i just need to know how to keep the front axle from engaging when I pull the lever.

Thanks,
Sam

You should search it, I did it this summer for the exact purpose you just mentioned. There's a thread on it.

But anyhow, there's 2 vacuum modulators on the passenger side firewall up high under the hood. They have constant power, when you are in 2wd 1 modulator is grounded and pulls a vacuum to keep the axle and front drive shaft disengaged. When you pull the lever back to 4wd, it grounds the other modulator, making it pull vacuum to engage the front axle and driveshaft.

Cut the grounds on the modulators, wire a 3 position on/off/ on switch. Ground the switch and run a leg to each modulator. There you go!! You pull back to 4wd lo and you are in 2 lo until u flip the switch!!! Very simple. I love it......now I just gotta get a rear locker and my truck will be complete.
