Hey guys, I've been eyeballing the new style "F150" badges that are red. My plan is to get 3 tailgate badges, one for my tailgate and one for each front fender, as I don't really like the looks of the "stick" extension off to the side of the new fender emblems that say "FX4, FX2," etc... Just wondering if anyone has tried this? When you look at the new badges on tailgates of the new trucks, they are in the middle of a bodyline... Are they curved to match? Just wondering if they will lay flat on the front fenders and tailgate of the 97-03 trucks. I'm sure I will have to cut the locating tabs off, that's no big deal. Any thoughts?

I'd give it a shot. That's what all the ranger guys do with pre-06 rangers. Buy some new emblems, cut off the alignment taps and 3m double sided tape them on.

 

The tailgate badge is curved to fit the body line, you'd have to trim it

 

Theres a guy on f150online.com that did his like that. Check out the show em off thread he posted pics on the latest page.

 

thanks for the tip. Looks like the trick is to get tailgate emblems from a flareside truck, because the flareside tailgate is flat and doesn't have the groove.

 

I just bought the a new set the tailgate one does stick out but not that bad
