Default 2003 Tie rod end play

Is this amount of ply normal in a tie-rod end? Makes this clunking noise every so often when I go over larger bumps

If your tie rod ends are clunking, it's a safe bet to say that they need replacing.

If there's any play at all... it's time to replace. You can feel and see play.

I agree, they need replaced - inners too. That said, I wouldn't 100% say that's your clunk you're hearing.

I can't tell if that is excessive or not. It should not make noise though. When they are greased, it shouldn't clunk.

The noise you hear while driving could be shock mounts or ball joints.
If you are not capable of checking these components, you should take it to a front end/suspension shop for inspection. Note: if you or anybody does work, you'll need to have a front end alignment done.
Tie rod ends can be replaced without an alignment if you count the number of turns to remove, then install with the same number of turns. If your front end is worn out though, probably best to budget for an alignment with parts replacement.

If there's video I couldn't see it. Wouldn't play, "missing codec". Post it on Youtube.

It's from an iPhone. If you download VLC Media Player, it will play anything you throw at it. And, it's free.

Thanks 89gt. But, for this thread I have expended max energy to view somebody else's video.

It is weird though that the Windows - Apple battle continues to frustrate everyone involved. "missing codec" has been happening for years. Can't we all just get along...

I agree, Apple should offer mp4 as an option. Every other platform is compatible with mp4.
