Default 2003 remote start

Purchased a used 2003 F-150 XLT with remote start.

The supplement booklet says "Ford" but when I spoke to a dealership they said it didnt come with the 2003 model.

When attempting to use the remote start it cranks but does not start. The starter interrupt is stoppin it i believe becuase the "Theft" light starts blinking on the dash.

I have attempted starting it with the key in the ignition (without turning it) and with no key in the ignition.

1st question - Did the 2003 model have a remote start option "I'm thinking yes since the supplement booklet is Ford"

2nd question - is remote start costly to diagnose/repair?

If the remote start is costly to diagnose/repair

3rd question - What does it take to remove the remote start.

1st, if the vehicle was sold to you by a dealership and you were told it has a remote start in it even if they slipped it in under thier breath, it should work... I would make em reprogram it, for free... Same thing happend to me with the truck I have now and I did exactly that, and now it works great, for free...

2nd look under the dash, see if you can see the remote start module or bypass box... take some #s off it and search em on-line, that's what I did mine is made by Code alarm, which is Audiovox now I think

IF it is a ford one, make your dealership fix it... My dealership repgrammed mine and it wasn't even installed by them... they said it was 60 bucks worth of labor but I didn't hafta pay because I said you guys advertised this truck to me as having a remote start and it actually doesn't cuz it doesn't work!! So make it work, left the keys on the counter and walked out... I got a call that it was done a few hours later

And make sure they properly bypass the PATS and don't just splice sh** and make it work... my PATS still works, I made sure to let em know before hand that I know how it works...

Sounds like yer bypass/PATS over-ride isn't fuctioning properly
Good luck man...
