Question 2003 f150 windshield wipers

The windshield wipers and spray on my 2003 F-150, will only work when the ignition is in the ACC position. I have checked all the fuses and relays and replaced the flasher relay. Could it be the multipurpose switch or wiper motor?

Check wires In the steering wheel covers, and probably the switch itself.

It doesn't work in the accessory position, but it does in run? Just making sure I understand that correctly.

The wipers only work in the accessory position. I have replaced the flasher relay and I have checked all the fuses and under hood relays

Lol, I don't know about that, who runs their wipers on ACC ? You just righted things in a way.

bdog, - you can try a battery disconnect for 15 minutes or so, then reconnect positive first. Sometimes things just get flaky and that can correct them. Other than that it could be GEM related or wiring if everything else checked out.

Default Wiper ACC

This is in response to jbrew's post. His response was "Lol, I don't know about that, who runs their wipers on ACC ?"
That response was funny, as that was the point I was making initially. The wipers only work on ACC, and not in the "run" position where it's supposed to work.

Since they work in the ACC position only, I would not suspect fuses or relays, nor would I suspect the switch as it is a single circuit regardless of ignition switch position. There is not a separate circuit for each switch position. I would however suspect the ignition switch itself. Don't confuse this with the ignition lock cylinder.

Simple and cheap way to be sure is to get one from your local junkyard and swap it out.

Here's a strange one. I replaced the multifunction switch as well as the ignition switch but that didn't help. Now there is something odd going on. When I move the turn signal arm to the left or right and pull it towards me, the the turn signal indicator lights momentary flicker, both right and left. I checked the fuses with my power probe and 5 or 6 of them showed ground on both sides of the fuse. The number 11, which is connected to the turn signal circuit also showed ground until I turned the key to the accessory position, then it had battery voltage.
