Default 2003 F150 Shocks

Ok, I'm just a teenager and don't know much about trucks, but I do know, the torsion bar allows the front of the truck to sit higher. Well, after I cranked my torsion bar up a little bit, it didn't come up. It did a little bit, but barely noticeable by anyone but me. Well, my buddy got a 99, and did the same, but his truck sat WAY higher than mine. Well, he took a look at it, and my shocks are kinda "maxed out" I guess you would say? I have almost no movement up. He recommended getting longer shocks and it would get higher. That's what he did. So, how long are the stock shocks, and how much longer should I go? Maybe an inch at the most?
Thanks for any help.

How much did you crank your bars, and shocks won't make your truck any taller.

Mine sits level with stock sized shocks and have plenty of travel. Are you sure the shocks are the right size and if so torsions do wear out over time could be time to replace them.
