Default 2002 Transnsmission intermittnt shifting

Hello everyone, new to the site and first time post. I have a tricky problem and have searched here but have not seen the same issue. My 2002 F150 V6 4.2 is picky about when it wants to use O.D. or not.
When I'm driving I realize it hasn't shifted into O.D. so, (don't ask me how I came up with this remedy) I will pop it into neutral and turn the truck off while driving. ( i know - not safe) re-start, feather the throttle and pop back into Drive. And there ya have it, she goes into O.D. To me it seems to be an electrical issue but I haven't got a clue. I've seen a lot on the Tranny servo's but that would probably be over my head to fix. This doesn"t happen on every start up but has become more frequent. Was considering a tranny flush, I had it done at 80k when it began to slip and has been fine since.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Overdrive Servo Valve Sleeve leaking overdrive oil.You can easily fix this without removing the transmission to the vehicle. If the Servo Pin Bore - Most WORN BORES CANNOT BE REPAIRED. OSS Sensor could Prevent it also from engaging. How was it flush Using a Solvent or ATF? A little contamination of different fluid could cause it to shift incorrectly.

Thanks. It was flushed with ATF and it was 80k. Now there is 144k on it.

Default Overdrive problems.

Hey, I saw this old post and was wondering what the final fix was.
That part about going down the highway and doing the restart works great on my 2002 F150 with the 4,6.
Thanks, WB
