2002 F150 XLT 5.4 transmission cooler line delete
Curious if anyone has done this...
Replacing the radiator on my son's 2002 F150 XLT 5.4 and snapped a transmission cooling line. I wonder if I could cap off both lines at the transmission and opt for a radiator without ithe transmission cooling line inlet and outlet on it.
Son does no towing with the vehicle, and at 275k miles I am unconcerned about how it will impact resale value,
Thanks for your suggestions,

Nahh, I wouldn't suggest it, Rock auto might carry the cooler line you need. You can try to do what your thinking, but no, I haven't heard of anyone doing so.

If the snapped line is one of the cooler tubes from the trans to the radiator cut out the bad section and use trans fluid rated hose to replace that section of tube.
If you double clamp both ends of the hose with good quality clamps it should be fine.
Our 2003 5.4L Exped radiator trans cooler became clogged, but the radiator is still working fine for engine cooling.
You don't have to have the radiator trans cooler, but the trans fluid does need cooling.
I installed 2 large tube-fin coolers because I do tow and it works well.
