Default 2002 F150 Performance Exhaust advise requested

I just bought a 2002 F150, it's a 5.4L extended cab 4x4. I would like some advice on how to get a split rear exhaust system with moderate sound for a reasonable price. Also, I would like to know if installation would be difficult , or if it would be better for a shop to do it.

Thanks

Dunno... I mean, if you really wanted to go cheap, you could just throw a cherrybomb or thrush glasspack (anywhere from $25-$50 for the muffler) on there, put a y-pipe behind that, and then round it off with polished tips.

I have a Thrush glasspack on mine, it was just under $100 installed- but I was in a rush and bought mine from Autozone and paid twice for the part what Summit does. My truck is a 4.6 and I do not think it is overly loud, but your mileage may vary.

i would buy a muffler, SI/DO and have it welded in place and tell a muffler shop how you want it to exit out of the truck. its way cheaper than buying an exhaust kit. you can do the exhaust yourself by using the exhaust U-bolts but i would have that **** welded with some hangers welded on the pipes. people like to use the clamps and hang the pipes without welding them to the hangers and it just looks like ****, the pipes bounce around everytime you hit a bump.

Your small muffler shop can fix you up with a nice set of stainless you'll like.

FYI as in power & something to think about during you selection.

https://www.f150forum.com/f6/dyno-re...0-5-4-a-14315/ Interesting read & I posted #7 & 10

I was going to add a 3" pipe behind the stock muffler for looks but got a new truck before I got that far.
