2002 f150 lariat
Hey everyone, how are yall. I’m not too sure if this issue has been posted in the forum before but I did a little bit of scrolling and I couldn’t find anything similar to it. I have a 2002 F150 super crew lariat, 4 x 4 great truck no check engine lights or anything however, the AC and heater don’t work, there is air going through the fans and it works at all different strengths however, It just does not get cold or hot. Normally I wouldn’t be too much of an issue. However, my wife is pregnant and the truck kind of serves as our daily driver. This texas heat is no joke hahaha. I can hear kind of like a thunking where I believe the door blend actuator is but it goes away after a little which leads me to believe it may not be a door blend actuator issue.
Does anyone have any idea on what it might be and how I can go about fixing it?

Well one way is to drive to an AC repair shop... And ask them to look at it.
While it's not outside the realm of possibilities to work on AC yourself, it sounds like you would be starting at square one
Do you know what an AC compressor is?
Either the compressor is not turning on ......
The blend door is stuck in the wrong position......
System is low on freon because of a leak so the compressor will not come on......
95% are the last one and is best left to pros , unless you have the knowledge and equipment to find and repair the leak. Which can require you to replace on the whole system if it was a compressor failure. AC repairs can be costly . Takes a lot of time to take a dash apart to get an evaporator core out.
How long has it not worked? Did you purchase it that way?
No heat .... Could be several things as well. Blend doors.., clogged heater core.

If it will not put out hot or cold air, the blend door actuator is the most likely the fault
You get in the truck and turn on the key
You listen real close as you move the temp selector from cold to hot then back again
Listen for any clicking indicating a broken gear in the actuator
Watch a few videos on replacing the blend door actuator on your 02
It's fairly easy and then you can inspect / test the doors operation when the actuator is removed
Good luck
It aint rocket science

It is often best to pay for an hour labor to get a correct diagnosis on something that can be caused by several failures. This is probably one of those times.
Please check that the AC is actually working by checking if the compressor clutch is energizing and spinning the compressor.
If not working it is usually low on refrigerant. Need to fix it if not working.
No heat can be several things but usually low on engine coolant or low (or no) flow through the core.
There are two ways to fix a blend door (if that is what's wrong).
The right way where you pull the dashboard out and the HVAC boxes apart and replace the blend door.
