Default 2002 5.4 engine surging

I sprayed the engine off today and now it is surging after about a minute. It has a after market air filter like a k&n. could it be something to do with the air filter being wet. Service engine light came on also but cant check the codes until tomorrow.

Yeah could have sucked some water through that filter on to the mass air meter. Or you could have got some water down in a plug hole causing a missfire.

Won't hurt to clean the maf with some brake cleaner and dry out that filter with a hair dryer or a fan

with the coil on plug configuration you might have shorted a coil so to say... kinda know on the modular motors if its a misfire most likely a coil/s got wet

It had 2 codes 1-misfire on startup first 1000 revolutions 2-cylinder 1 misfire. took the machine back into oreilly and then left. started the truck and the codes were gone. didnt even clear them my self. and punched it a couple times on the way home and it was fine so it has gotten better
