2001 need serious help

Default 2001 need serious help

I have a 2001 ford truck that the dash cluster has just gone crazy. It started three years ago with the gas gauge quit working. I is not the fuel pump put two in it one right after the other. Have been told it is a short in the dash. I went to the local auto electeric repair shop and they said it would be fifty dollars an hour and plan on fourty hours. You can not deal with the one dealer closes to me they are stupid on there charges and they will not do what you want. I have been into it with them more then once. They even gave me fits with a recall I had on the truck they did not want to fix it. Anyway on to the point. There is other ford dealers but I am poor if i was not i would just go buy another truck. Here is what it does.

Gas gauge does not works or when it does is not right.
Odmenter comes on and off.
Temp gauge will drop down to nothing.
Speed/tach jumps on to off up and down.
it will say in low lock when not,
oil light on and off even right after an oil change.
service engine soon light on and off.
If ran then shut off then go right back to take off again theft light will flash and truck will not start give thirty minute intervals and will fire right up.
low fuel light will stay on when gas gauge drops out.,
not keeping milage right could go 270 miles and fill up and use twenty gallons. now runs flat out at two hundred miles.

Any and all help would be greatly apprectated new to this forum thing will check back on a few day intervals. Do not have day to day access to internet. If need more information let me know

Good day,

Well, I am not positive what the fix would be to all your problems, but I would suspect they are all tied to the cluster itself... The odo blanking out is an issue with broken solder connections on the cluster board... I resoldered mine, and all was well... As far as the security system kicking in and locking you out for 30 mins; I'm at a loss... I doubt that is the result of a faulty cluster, but I can't say it isn't possible!!

My of is doing the same thing blinking and stuff. How hard was it to saulder the board. I have taken it out already to check wires never thought about the board. Sorry for interjecting on your post

Do you have a leak around the windsheild into the cab of the truck? I will search posts for you, but sounds like other posts with multiple electrical faults being related to windshield leaks into the cab onto your fuse box(water, corrosion, shorting connections)

No do not have anyleaks that I know of. Never had water in the floor or anything like that.

One more question. Is there anyway to dissconnect the theft system. Or un program it. Just a thought I had . Thanks for all the help so far still digging before I tackle it.
