Default 2001 Lariat Auto Transmission problem?

Greetings.
My first time here.
Own a 2001 Lariat from new, its always been good to me up to now.

Recently Im having an intermitent problem - Half the time the truck drives fine, no problems.
But other times I start her up, idles fine, Into drive fine, then clunk, clunk, clunk as I pull away , same in reverse, same even if I roll in neutral.

Sometimes it clears after a few seconds but today I got stuck.
Power still getting to the wheels ok but undriveable really.

Just had the tranny opened up, cant see no problems, mechanic suggesting that a chain in there may have stretched and may need replacing but he says he's guessing.

I live in Barbados so Ford mechanics non exsistent and parts must be bought in from the US (not cheap).

Any ideas????

Thanks.

Are you sure that is coming from your tranny. It kinda sounds to me like it might be the rearend.
