Default 2001 gauge cluster question

I have a 2001 f150. The guy that owned the truck before me put a 99 motor and tranny in it. The odometer and speedometer do not work. It appears the guy switched a lot of wiring. Everything on the gauge cluster but the odometer and speedometer work. I replaced the sensor in the rear differential. My question is did all 2001 f150s come with gauge clusters with a digital odometer? I had a 2001 f150 before but it was a digital odometer. I'm thinking the guy put the gauge cluster from the 99 with an analog odometer in it. Does anyone know if they offered analog odometers in 2001?

Could've really been a 97 or 98. Those two years were mechanical odometer and speedometer.

97-98's have all 4 gauges on the left side of the cluster's speedo and tach, where the 99 and up have 2 small gauges on each side of the center Speedo and or Tach. Only 97-8 had the analog rolling odometer. All the others had the digital mileage readouts. If yours has the analog, then your truck has been messed with big time. Also, your VSS should be at the left side of the tail of the transmission, not on the rear differential. Check there for the sensor. Good luck.
