Poor fuel
Water in the gas
A processor issue
Could be about anything. I would start with a code test
Might just need a tune up
Use Motorcraft parts

I would be looking at fuel delivery and checking the fuel pressure. If it's not water in the gas it could be the fuel pump going out.

What are they? That doesn’t narrow it down at all.

I do have a pretty bad exhaust leak, could that make it do it?

Well, depending on where the exhaust leak is at
It can slam the O2 sensors full lean causing the processor to add fuel
It could possibly be causing your problem
As the truck warms up it goes into closed loop operation and starts monitoring sensors
When the engine is cold the processor enriches the mixture enough that it runs fine cold (open loop)
You need to be able to see the O2 sensors switch with a scan tool using PID data monitor
So, get yourself a scan tool straight away, it will save you money in the long run

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

Good idea big Ed 1
While the fuel filter is off, hit the key if needed and take a fuel sample into a clear glass container
Let it sit a while and inspect the fuel for water and other contaminants.
