Make sure it will pass an inspection, the head gaskets fail eventually and ruin the cats. If it is burning oil you are in for a new engine. Also, there should be zero rough spots at idle, it should be perfectly smooth otherwise its misfiring and or has a vacuum leak. The front steering should be tight, if not you will chase that looseness for a long time. Good news, lots of parts available, cheap to fix and maintain.

Huh, never heard of those before.

If a head gasket fails, it ruins your wallet. IF a coil fails, THAT ruins you cats.

I don't think I ever seen one these modulars burning oil. Burning oil means you have a smoker. Using oil, these trucks use oil all the time, some use a quart every 1000 miles. But they can do so for 300,000 miles plus and the engine is fine.

Perhaps you just got confused momentarily lol.

I bought an 03 screw 4wd w 4.6 all original in Dec with 265k on it and it runs great. Granted, not at that price... but not quite as clean as that one looks either. I am happy and plan to fix it up little by little and keep her a good while! I am not scared of miles typically. This forum is a great source of knowledge for sure!

Bought mine in September with 258k miles and paid 1/3 of that, however it needed some love (gas tank was leaking, EGR system needed work, other general maintenance.) I've been working on it as time and funds permit but haven't had a code in over 2 months so I'm happy. Of course I'm also in the center of the country so prices are a little different.

The only thing that would stop me from buying one if I was in the market is rust. Otherwise, these trucks are simple to fix, maintain and improve.
