Delema lol. First, your parts truck engine doesn't use an ECT, it was deleted after 99. Your 4six , pretty sure that one doesn't use an ECT either. I believe it was deleted after 2000 for the 4six engines. Anyway, thats a CHT sensor your attacking and yea , PITA to score a win removing it that way. The only success I've seen in doing so this way is chisling the plastic connector off and using a socketed wrench on one side to get in there. However, yea, that's all I recall.....not sure how the install went. Fun stuff lol.

EDIT, - Actually and come to think of it, the socketed wrench end could of been one of the failed attempts. It may have took a 3/8 drive wrench attachment, x19mm or 3/4" standard (you can use either) to bust the sensor loose. Regardless, once the old connector was busted off, you could then get some configuration to work for removal.

Can I watch? Not the bend over and crack a smile thing, - the slug treatment sounded interesting though lol.

For the ALT, there should be an inline fuse in the alt harness. Check that first. Then check the alternator brushes. They can lock up in the holder after sitting awhile. It might be just a matter of freeing them up.

well, idk, am stumped. That's the reading I get with the alternator and the little battery light is still on. Fuse 11 on the diagram, 20 amp, is still good. Battery is charged good, no more issues with sensor, temperature, now it has gone to the power issue. I noticed the little clip in the middle of the alternator(next to power with 10mm) that it is loose? No clip, it just slides on and off easily, could that be what's causing battery light?

sounds like you have to fly into Red Lake for parts...are you???? anyways just a heads up I had two 5.0 V8's (a 2011 & 2012)......service done to both trucks 8-9 months apart....Both trks.
acted up after Canadian tire installed their thermostats.....changed back to motorcraft stats & everything has been fine for two summers now...tell me the stat you put in didn't come from CTC corp.????????? it seemed both stats kinda worked but I guess each one wouldn't let enough circulation thru after they opened...so basically no good!!

The thermostat is working fine right now, knock on wooden head, I just found out I have a business meeting, so I am glad to hear that, parts store here I come!!! I just gotta try and figure out WTF is wrong with my power situation now(battery light on).

I will be getting new thermostat, new orings, need grease for grease gun, serpentine belts, new filters both air and oil, maybe some shiny tools, Idk what else. I have to try and figure that out.

should be 14.3 volts if it is charging right..........it is possible that alt may not be compatible....Don't really know for sure.....go on car-part.com.....that is the Auto wreckers web-site......punch everything in the dropdown window , year, engine model etc. make sure you punch in Canada, also distance & then postal code....if it don't like yours input one for say Red Lake, or Ignace T-Bay Kenora etc. it will now give you what is available (used) starting from the closest away.... Don't remember your year but doner Alt was a year newer I think so punch in that year then see if your older year comes up in the list of what's available....that way if it is....it should be compatable.
Hope I explained it well enough for you......."Mac"

Yea , like I said check the alt harness fuse. That fuse has to do with battery light IF that year has one, pretty sure it does. Green wire red stripe I believe, merges with a orange wire...depends on the year. Then the brushes/regulator connection.

Your battery is on the low side, it'll get worse quickly. Might want to keep it disconnected at this point, until you figure it out. Like I said, simple easy things first.
