2000 XLT Cannot program keys or remote fob
I had a remote fob that died so I bought 2 from an ebay company I had used before. Their instructions, the standard 8 turns to run and off, etc. did not work. Have tried all methods I can find but no lock mode ever happens.
The worst is I also wanted to add a couple of keys as I had lost 1 of the only 2 for several months. As I can lose almost anything by "putting them up", I figured to play it safe and have some spares.
The 2 working keys, as are required, (once the 2nd one was found) were actually 2 I had programmed several years ago when the originals had worn too bad to trust. I followed the instructions (these were from the same manufacturer as first programmed set from years ago), and used key#1 to go to run then off, then key#2 to do the same. I then Inserted 1 new key and waited until dash lights blinked, and turned to off, and waited again. It started the truck no problem. One down!
When I tried to do the identical scene with the 2nd un-programmed key, it would not start the truck. Then when I tried both of my original keys (programmed years ago) neither of those, nor the one that had just been programmed and worked did anything! I now have 4 keys, all of which will not start my vehicle
