2000 F150 4L not working??

2000 F150 4L not working??

My truck has the electronic-shift-on-the-fly 4wd and when I'm in 2H and go to 4H it makes a clicking noise and the "4x4" light shows up on the dash. And when you turn the dial to 4L nothing happens. Is this normal?

When your trying to put it into 4L are you in neutral?

^^ x2. My ranger had shift on the fly. ITS SUCH A PAIN. Thats why I wouldnt settle for it again, I have a manual shift now. but yeah x2 on the neutral and the brake.
