Hello,

Just recently picked up a 98' extra cab with around 208k miles on it, I picked it up for a thousand bucks with a blown head gasket with the goal of just replacing the gasket.

After some better consideration I decided to just replace the worn out 2 valve with another.

What motors can I use, because finding a 98' truck is gonna be harder.

Ive allready found a 93' grand marquis with a running motor for 500.

I just want to make sure that will work, and what others will work well.

kinda sorta both.

 

doing some more searching around and findind 98-03 are the same and better. I'll stick with that, found some as cheap as 650 with less thank 100k on them.

Well, now this is my problem, which motor do I need, the windsor, or the romeo, I seem to be finding the romeos in the junks yards, while the valve cover on my truck says windsor canada.

 

Just curious, can a 4.6L engine & trans from a 2006 Mustang GT go in a 97 or 98 F-150???

 

either will work, if you have a windsor engine, it has an 8 bolt flexplate, so if you get a romeo engine, you will need a romeo 6 bolt flexplate.

 

yes and no. some misc stuff will have to be retained, but get a truck trans, a 5.4L trans from 2001 to newer will have what you need.
96-98 Mustang GT engines are weak, 99-04 is what you want.
