1999 Rear End Replacement
Looking for a S829A = 3.55L 8.8 with disc brakes, abs plug and 12mm studs. Truck produced in 7/99. Is there other model rear ends in the bone yard that will work? Plenty of this gear and size rear ends out there just not sure on the abs plug location and such. Lost my brother a few years back and he put me on this truck years ago so I kind of want to keep it rolling as long as I can if ya know what I mean. Thanks for any help guys....
Might be something in the thread linked below. akdoggie has posted quite a bit about the rear axle assemblies. You might search his past posts. I think that he often suggests using the interchange books to find models. Any good wrecking yard should be able to take your part number and tell you what models might have it.
Pretty sure that the axles will swap in to the assembly so if you got a 14mm unit you could move your 12mm axles over if they're not damaged. Not clear why you need a complete assembly. Should open up some options. Good luck.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I popped the cover and the differential carrier housing is broke down the center. Had one axle with more play than I like but it did not leak at the seal. Maybe that extra play or just old age killed it. I figure I can find a respectable used rear end and change out much cheaper than getting it fixed.
