Default 1998 f150 e4od trans problem

So I am considering buy a truck off a family memeber. Its a 98 f150 ext cab 4x4 with the 5.4 and the e4od tranny. The transmssion has been replaced once in it. Currently the truck will move perfectly in reverse and when you put it in drive you have to give it throttle till about 3k rpms and wants it gets moving it doesnt slip as long as the rpms are up to like 2500 to 3000. Could this be a torque converter problem? Any help would be gret guys.

Sterling produced the 10.25 and 10.50 for ford in the 97-03 refered to by sterling because they were built in sterling, michigan i beleive. Im gonna go with you probly have the E40D which sucks or the 4R70 which is a little better or the 4r100.

if it is the 4r100 its about 1500-1700 to rebuild, but if you get it reuild mark the trans somehoiw because those trans are saught after, the shop that did mine put another person e40d in my truck and i had to fight with them and force myself into the shop to show them that it was not mine, manager knew it the whole time
