1998 4.6 P1506 code
Code refers to the IAC or vacumm leak.
My question is has anyone ever bought multiple IAC valves that were bad?
As far as vacumm leaks, I listened to every possible place on the engine 7 ways to monday morning & cannot hear any leaking.
Next step was to go ahead and replace my intake gaskets because I replace the IAC valve last weekend.
Just for the hell of it, I decided to grab my Haynes book & read if the IAC valve could be checked & yup, sure can. Measure the voltage with the key on to ensure voltage going to the valve and there is.
Next check the ohms from one pin to the other on the valve and I have the needed ohms here.
Final check is to check ohms from either pin to the iac valve body & should be 10,000 ohms or greater, if less than 10,000 ohms Haynes says there is an internal short in the valve & to replace the valve. I get no ohms here.
Being a new valve with a 2 year warranty I brought it back to auto zone for a replacement.
Checking the new valve right out of the box I still do not get any ohms when checking for the 10,000 or greater. A/Z manager said to install it and try it that way, (this should not matter, but decided to give it a try and still nothing). As believed, once installed it still has no ohms when testing for the short per Haynes book.
Having to wait until next weekend to work on it, I will go into Nappa & speak with them as well as buy one there if I get the ohms as Haynes states.
