1997 Rad support removal

Default 1997 Rad support removal

I need to remove my radiator support to replace it with a new one, due to the amount of rust on the current one it will not pass safety. I need to know how to remove it....please help i am desperate

i am putting a body lift on mine and it is gone also. where did you get one and how much? i was told it just unbolts but don't know for sure

isn't the rad support part of the inner fenders and cab, like a uni-body?

I know on the 2001's it is, Not sure on the 97-98's

it was like $100 on LMC....it is more than just bolts I think...I need to know exactly

really, that sucks....ye I am trying to figure it out...thats what it looks like is a unibody, but they seel the rad support by itself so I dont know, have you tried to remove it

Yup its like a unibody from radiator support to back of cab. The radiator support is spot welded on. You will have to drill ,cut and beat to separate it. Then try to get it back into shape for new support. I don't think new support can be bolted on (I might be wrong ) so drag out the welder and go to town

Do yourself a HUGE favor and get yourself some SPOT WELD DRILL BITS.

Hey Laxman, I can take more pictures if needed but the white truck is a 2001. Bigdreynolds is right, it is spot welded on. The inner fender parts are bolted on, spot welded on and also sealed in place when built. I have seen the inner fenders off in pictures but the spot welds were covered up,... like this picture,....This is on a 98 cab
