my 97 f150 has close to 300,000 miles on it, 298,657 after todays trip, and so far there hasnt been any major issues until today. Battery died the other night, recharged it and everything seemed fine. Driving to work and the four wheel drive light comes illuminates on the dashboard and then goes out but does not jump into four wheel, so i assumed that maybe is was an electrical issue and went to roll down my windows and nothing worked figured id ride it out until i got home. Turned the truck off and then started it back up, the windows worked fine and no lights illuminated, then i went to shut the truck off, pulled the key out and noticed that all the lights that would be illuminated on the dashboard when the key is in the on position in the ignition are on, played with it a little bit and they wont go off. any suggestions?

 

My 2000 had a leaky windsheild. It leaked right on the steering column. when it would rain hard my dome lights would come on the radio would turn on with the keys out and the anti theft would turn on and it wouldnt start. I would usually disconnect the battery and everything would go back to normal.

 

The leaks could also be getting into the fuse box and Gem Module located under the dash.
