So my 1997 f150 idles at 1400 then drops to 1100 then to
About 900? Is this normal? If not what up with it. I'm
In the process of a lot of maintenance on it so one more thing is not a big deal.

You never try cleaning potentiometers of any type where you can cause a flat spot. The results can be deadly. I had a friend who I wish hadn't messed with his. It proved deadly.
The TPS is r & r only. I'm sure the other sensor is also. I'd go with the TPS first and clear the codes. Only then if one resets, would I put in the pedal. It's not fun throwing money at computer controlling sensors.

Please step away from the crack pipe! Tens of millions of people have cleaned tps sensors as well as all the other sensors in order to see if they could save some money. Hell they make products specifically for the job if you don't wanna use carb cleaner. Please tell the full story about your friend and this flat spot stuff PLEASE!!!!!!!

2006 Mustang. Took the pedal out to reset the pedal to engage sooner and remove the flat spot. Followed the directions completely. Worked fine for about 30 minutes, then a piece touched across and the pedal fully engaged WOT. Before he could shut it down he lost traction and the car too. He was killed on the spot. That is why I am against it.
I've sold parts all my life and other than CRC electronic cleaner, most other brands tend to melt the plastics (at least make them sticky and discolored). If you read any information on TPS or similar style sensor, they are highly against opening then up, due to possible things like happened to Ron. I clean MAF's, and Baro's with CRC, but never a TPS.

Sorry about your friend I thought you were talking about a tps sensor I didn't know you were talking about a electronic throttle control. Thank god my f-150 has a throttle cable and no matter what I spray at my sensors the worst thing that can happen is that they wont work. There's something to be said for a mechanical pedal linkage. If they break you don't get wot.
