Default 1997-2003 sas

So I was thumbing through ebay today, and found this...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/F-150-Straig...ebbfce&vxp=mtr

Looking at the pictures, look like the rear swing shackle just rotates on the frame? I'm guessing you'd drill and weld in a slug to bolt the shackle to??? Other than that, it LOOKS like its a pretty straight forward kit. "Some assembly required" of course. I'm personally not all that interested, but I can't ever remember seeing a "kit" like this for our trucks...

yeah that rear shackle would be fine as long as its reinforced around the frame. the kit looks good, but its just the basics. it would be good to get a solid D60 and keep it full width, if you have really good welding/fab skills you could index the inner hub assy down for added ground clearance. Also trim the diff for more clearance.

I would like to get a IFS truck and convert it to 4-link and coilovers before I would do a leaf setup.

I agree with it being a beginner fab starting point. If you look at the pictures, they want you to weld shock mount tabs on the frame between the upper control arm bolting locations in place of the stock shock bucket. Why couldn't you just use the stock shock bucket and get a set of shocks with a stud in top and a thru bolt on the bottom? Seems like that would eliminate some fab/welding. It shouldn't need to be any stronger than stock, it's just a shock not a coil over. Or am I missing something?
