Default 18x8.5 on 35's, will they rub?

Im am very close to being able to buy new wheels and tires. I plan to go with ultra thunders, 247 or 248 somthing like that. I was going to go with 18x9 and 35's, but ive ran into a problem. I keep getting told that 18x9's will still rub? So if i go with a 18x8.5 will i be able to get away with it? Because I dont want to have to cut the fender. Can any one help me?

I have 35's on my truck with 18s and it didnt rub on fenders (7" of lift) but it did rub on the inner A arm at full turn. I used 1.5" spacers to fix it

i dont think it's so much the width of the wheel but more of the backspacing and offset
