Default 1/4 times with Edge programmer!

First off, I have to say that I LOVE this Edge programmer, and if you don't have one, you NEED ONE NOW!

That being said, I started phase one of my quarter mile testing to see my truck's improvement. I hope that this will help some of you with your modification choices, as well as your Edge Custom Tunes.

My truck is a 2003 5.4 single cab step side with 45,000 miles.
I do have 20" rims so they are a little heavier than the stockers, but my Falken tires are almost new with 200 miles on them.

This first test was conducted with the Level One Transmission tune installed. The truck had 1/4 tank of 87 octane. I ran four quarter miles with 5 minute breaks in between. These were my numbers, despite burning out 3 out of the 4 runs:

14.61
14.73
14.46
14.57
------------
14.59 Average

I was very surprised with these numbers! I was expecting mid 15s, maybe low 15s at best. Needless to say, the Level One tune makes the truck shift nice and fast, and it felt great!

For my next test, I will be installing my cold air intake. I bought this generic kit off of Ebay for $45, so we will see how it improves my intake air temperatures and 1/4. I will also post pictures of the intake so you can see how it looks.

I also plan to run the Level Three 91 octane custom tune with the CAI, to compare the test results with the Level One Tune and CAI.

Any comments are welcome, and maybe you guys have 1/4 times you want to post as well.

too bad they don't make the edge programmers for my v6...why not just do the gotts mod instead of buying a cold air intake...do you prefer the look? Oh..and btw, those are pretty good numbers! Where did you get your custom tunes from?

Javi, I decided to go with the cheap Ebay CAI because it seems like the stock airbox is restrictive, even with the Gotts mod. But we shall see how the cheap-o CAI performs lol. If I don't see any gains I will just switch to the Gotts mod.

As for the tuning, right now I am just using the pre-programmed settings. Eventually I will mess with the Level 3 custom tuning and dial in the timing/WOT/shifting etc. I am also thinking about a 50 shot of wet nitrous, that would probably put my in the low 13s

I was not expecting those numbers AT ALL, considering bone stock 99-04 mustang GTs usually run 14.0-14.5 1/4 miles. The lightnings run low to mid 13's stock. I'm thinking with the CAI and 91 level three tune I should dip into the 13's. I really need a better rear end though, I have a non-LSD 3.55 and it's REAL easy to burn out, even with new rubber.
