03 supercrew sub boxes
Most people lift the back seat to fit boxes with 10s and 12s.
A lot of boxes you can buy simply dont have the required clearance to let sub breathe well. It really needs 1.5-2" in front of and around its edges. Some boxes are .5-1" from floor.
Ive got 8" under my backseat in 0.35 ft3 box I built. Its enough with 300W driving it for me most of the time. The sub was only $50. Been thinking about adding another in parallel since at 2 ohm my amps birthsheet is 639 watts rms.
But....If I was to do it over for more power, Id probably go with a single high excursion shallow mount sub like image dynamics IDQ10 with 28mm excursion. I still wouldnt lift my seat, or have it not fold forward to access storage area.
I toyed with idea of a carpeted box in middle of floor in back that could be removed as well when 2+people rode , and just keep one under seat then. I like this concept. As well as on floor in front in front of console.
I dont listen to rap, nor do I want a boomy ported box. I like tight thump of the kick drum, and an sub that can keep up with the music.
