02 SuperCrew Leak
Just recently bought a 2002 SuperCrew. I was cleaning the interior out and popped the driver side door sill off, and noticed there was water where the wires run. Didn't think anything of it, just soaked it up. We had a hard rain yesterday, I noticed that the back window was leaking on the top because the seal is bad. So I checked the door sill again, and there was more water. Could my front windshield have a bad seal as well, or is the water coming in some place else? I did not drive the truck yesterday, I noticed all this water in the cab after I arrived home from work. Any suggestions on what to check for on the front of the truck? Thanks in advance!
It's possible the front could be leaking. It is a common issue that it leaks on the top driver side. Water can get to the front from the rear though, so I would get that re-sealed first and watch for wetness.
The problem is that when water comes in, it can drop onto the GEM located behind the fuse box and corrode/short it out. When this happens all sorts of electronic failures/problems can happen. The GEM is expensive to replace, much more than the cost of getting a windshield/rear window re-sealed.
If you do get the front windshield re-sealed, ask about what happens if it breaks when they are prying on it. Sometimes they will cover it, other times not.

Have an '01 Screw - leaking after rain storms --took some cotton swabs and cleaned out around the windshield corners (used purple power) then had some bathroom clear silicone/sealant and filled the hole where the roof rib goes under the windshield trim and around the windshield corners - you can hold the trim off the body with a putty knife but be gentle - no more leaking even with some serious rain (had 2 days w/o rain and some good temps to dry)
