Hello all. New guy here. I have a 2001 f150 with the 5.4 it has developed a problem and I can't tell if it is computer or not. When I first start it for the day and put it in drive, it is fine until I touch the gas, and then it shifts to high gear, and if I come to a stop, stalls. I can still drive it by manually shifting, but it will stall at a stop. The rest of the day it will be like that. Anybody have a similar problem, and if so, could you share?

When you say it shifts to a high gear when you step in the gas, does it just instantly shifts to another gear or runs normal until you come to a stop

 

It shifts into overdrive at anything higher than an idle.Skips all the gears in between. From then on, it must be manually shifted and put in neutral at a complete stop. With o/d off, it shifts into next highest gear.
