temp gauge

My 2005 F-150 dashboard outside temp gauge has stopped working? Is this a bad sensor or a computer issue. It worked the other day for awhile and then quit. Appreciate any help on this. Thanks

i have had them go out on two of my f150s, i have been told that it the display unit, so i went to the junk yard and found the same vehicle and replaced the display unit and it worked.
