Default PA weight class 2

We just moved to PA. When I got my truck registered, I registered it as a class 2 (up to 7000lbs) vehicle. They said nothing about a sticker for the window. I started noticing some trucks with a class 2 sticker and some without, after I got home I did some research and found regs that say you must display a class 2 sticker if your vehicle is registered as a class 2. Ive since asked several people and most tell me thats an old law and no longer applies. I cant find anything in writing that says that. Whats the deal with the class 2 stickers?

Default class 2

I don't think anyone puts them on anymore. Pennsylvania issues them when you first register a truck over class 1. My truck does'nt have one and I can't think of anyone else that I know that has one reguardless of the weight class. I think more and more trucks dont have them anymore unlike when I was a kid when they all had them. I drive tactor trailer "class 8" and don't remember having any on the trucks I've driven over the last several years. Been pulled over many times in PA. for speeding and level 3 dot inspections and never had a cop say a word. I dropped my class down to 5,ooo class 1 to save money on registrastion on my 97 f150. I'am 40 and have never heard of anyone getting busted for being overweight in a pickup. You can get a sticker from penn dot, inspection stations and I've seen them in my local notory.

Thats exactly what Ive been hearing, its not required anymore. I just havent seen anything that officially states that.
Im a driver as well. We have a Mack thats registered in PA and it still has a weight sticker. As there is no date on it, I assume that once you get the sticker, its good until it falls off.
The class 2 registration is substancially more $$$$. After seeing so many trucks without stickers it got me to thinking that maybe Im a sucker getting a class 2.

Mine is registered and stickered as a class two, I am not sure of the requirements, but I purchased the truck about 4 months ago and received the class two sticker and registration.

I won't put mine on because they hit you up more in the tolls. This is not an old law. Its still up to date. Its more for commerical use and if you're a landscaper the DOT's have been going after them guys a lot. Easy money because they don't tie down their mowers, or cross the chains on the trailer, lights are usually out.(Thats right from a DOT cops mouth) Unless your truck is a company truck, or you're gonna be towing all the time in and out of state.. I'd keep it off. If you're towing over 5k, technically you're suppose to pull into the scale house when the lights are on... ( im not sure about the mobile tag a long trailers, but I would assume they are in the same cat.)
Bottom line, just don't give them any reason to pull you over. Welcome to PA btw, Great gun state too!!!

Default Class 2 to Class 1

Bob,
How did you get your registration down to a Class 1? I just bought my F150, too, and the Class 2 sticker came with the owner's card. Didn't know any better, so I put it on. Can I register it as a class one when I renew, or is there more to it than that?

I got an EZ pass, you get cheaper rates and all you do is type in the license plate number.

When I bought the truck the notary asked me if I wanted to drop the class to save some money everytime I renewed the plates. I would wait till it's time to renew the plates to drop it to a class 1. Just call a notary to see what paper they have to send to Harrisburg and see what there gonna charge for the notary fee.
