Default When to change oil

Should I go by my computer or every 3,000 miles. I have a 2011 F-150 FX4. I have always went every 4,000 miles on all my other pickups.

Depends on what oil. Straight conventional I would go 3000. The motorcraft semi they recommend, or a all synthetic I wouldn't change before 5000. Some go by the computer, personally I like 5000. Easy to keep up with.

Yep, every 5k for me.... Considering a once a year schedule with Amsoil products though. Still undecided...

I'm going by the computer. Nothing to remember. When the truck tells me it's time, I take it in.

Every 3000 miles, or 3 months, whichever comes first. That is what I was always told, and that's what I do. Also, I am a fan of Lucas oil treatment, IMO it adds life to your engine. I use conventional oil, Havoline to be exact.

Go by the computer. 3 months or 3k is a thing of the past and from a few articles I read was a way to sell more oil. Newer engines can go up to 10000 miles without changes. Just check it regularly to make sure it's full.

What motor do you have? The Ecoboost shows a lot of fuel dilution since it is a DI motor and needs to be changed more frequently than the other motors. A UOA will let you know exactly when you need to change it without guess work.

Lucas is nothing but base oils and its viscosity is horrendous for cold oil flow. Look up the virgin sample of it, no antiwear additives are not a good quality for anything in the sump.

I change mine every 5 to 6k miles on my 5.0. I've been using Motorcraft Syn Blend 5w-20 and MC filter with great result's. Good time to rotate and inspect tires also.
