So coming from MN myself...
The issue is that it seems too much of Colorado works on "who you know". You need to know people to get the ball moving relating to the job market. Coming in from MN, the job market is rocky-they pay crap, everyone wants to move here, some to play with Cannabis. Coming with just the clothes on your back and say a grand in cash? You will not go far I promise. Most places will not even look at you if your resume is out of state. Really sad, but the truth! A lot of employers will also do drug testing, again if you are coming for Cannabis, this might be a deal breaker. A med card will not allow you to skirt employer rules, at all!
If you have no job and cannot afford the housing market, do not come to Colorado. Denver area, you're in 400k range for typical house sale. In the springs, this is lower. People also do commute HOURS to work here, keep that in mind. You will also have emissions testing depending on where you live. Have a friend who sold his house near St Mary's Glacier at 11k elevation to a dude who is going to drive to/from Denver daily...somewhere downtown.
Rentals down in the springs generally start at $1400/mo, the state does not have very good tenant laws so be ready to "slum" it, some places are just utter **** holes.
The problem is there is such a huge influx of people coming to Colorado, the infrastructure, housing, schools, job market, everything has not kept up well with the explosive growth. A house will list today, and receive multiple offers without the buyer even seeing the house! If a home is on the market for more than a few weeks, it is due to the price point. Expect to pay full to 30k or more over list, if you want it bad enough...
Traffic....sucks bad.
Good luck, Been having a blast thus far

My #1 destination hope is Missoula, MT. But it's not quite big enough for there to be a lot of openings.
Luckily I have a fairly good job here in Memphis, but I hate living here.
And I have zero interest in cannibus.

Well, you are not far from Denver...which is good and bad. You're braver than I on a new house. They cannot find qualified craftsman before a housing boom Hope it goes well for you.
The problem with those remote locations is that they may not pay as much as you are worth on the market. Personally I'd love to end up out in the mountains or woods with a broadband connection. As long as Amazon can deliver we will be good
I mention cannabis as I see many posts on facebook about people thinking they can just walk into the industry and "get to play with pot". Because of the temperate climate here, there is a homeless population-some of which is added to due to lack of planning on one's part prior to arriving.
I hear ya. I refuse to work in or near Denver, I really wouldn't love Co Springs. But there's not as much out there away from the central corridor. That's why I've been trying around Ft. Collins. Even farther west in Vale, Grand Junction, Durango, etc. I could maybe even tolerate Utah away from SLC

Yeah, remote civilization would be nice.
I could take a pay cut to live and work somewhere enjoyable. I also plan to purchase 40-100 acres of land to hunt and raise cattle. So that rules out a big chunk any of the metropolitan areas.

Ft Collins is a yuppie college town that's grown leaps and bounds in the last 10 years. Ault & other places east of Ft Collins that are small old towns are growing like weeds also. Wellington north of Ft Collins has tripled in size it seems and is getting even bigger and more and more housing developments are going up between Ft Colins and wellington.
We know a guy who lives in WY, flies his plane to a small airport in the Denver area & drives to work at DIA where he's a commercial pilot.
Hell, more and more people are moving to WY and driving to Ft Collins/Loveland and even Denver daily, I25 at rush hour around Ft Collins is 20mph on a good day anymore and it take about 2.5-3 hours on the weekend to go from the Ft Collins area to Denver. It's almost as ba as going from Denver to the Springs...that sucks goat *****.
Only good thing is we got a killer deal on our truck in Loveland, so many dealers in the area you just look for one that will work with you.....and Ft Collins has a couple really good 4x4 shops....

As far as Ft Collins, old town is getting over ran by homeless/beggars who have come to Colorado for pot or who knows what. Twice now we have been verbally accosted for our leftovers, once was physically assaulted by a beggar who grabbed for them.
PD has 2-2 man foot patrols that we have sen in old town, 1 ambulance is normally posted there as well. Also see quite a few roving PD patrols on te weekends.
Denver is a sanctuary city and the mayor has said it's a safe city...however, 12th street mall has doubled to tripled the police presence, private security as well as private security in Union Station. We were downtown when the RTD private security officer was assassinated....I've felt safer in some 3rd world **** holes than 16th street mall after dark...
But Denver has a Voodoo donuts
Point is, Colorado is not the garden spot of yesterday, since legalizing weed it's gone downhill and gotten quite worse....

Maybe I'll stick with Montana or Idaho.

Anyone in the northern Colorado/Loveland area?
Hell folks,
My wife and I recently picked up a 1994 F150 4x4 w/ the 302 and a 5 speed transmission. I feel sheepish asking this, but we're attempting to do some maintenance work on our own and would love some guidance. If anyone has some good recommendations on where to look for basic repair write ups/videos or would even be willing to give us a hand (for the right compensation...) we'd be all ears.
Thanks in advance!

Anyone else get their truck caught in the hail storm last May in Wheat Ridge? The place I’ve always used for repairs screwed up my reservation and put me out until February. Called a couple places recommended by friends or family and those place don’t work with aluminum.
So so has anyone had their truck repaired? If so did you like the work they did?
