Hey guys, im trying to get my Class A CDL to drive a truck, and i had a few questions:

1. im 20, and turn 21 in late January of next year, can i still take one of those driving schools for trucks, and when im 21 go and take the test?

2. I'm also getting my HazMat endorsement, can i go ahead and get my background check done before im 21?

3. Can anyone give me some tips on what to study for?

4.What should i expect on the tests, both written and driving?

I also have a class a cdl and went thru a school in indianapolis. I don't know about the age requirements or the background check for hazmat. I think the school did all of that, but I was already over 21 when I got it. As for what to study, If you go to a school they will teach what is on the written test. And study your pre-trip as they were sticklers for that at the school I went to. The driving part for me seamed to come naturally. I had to learn to double clutch but once I did it was a breeze.

 

First expect a drug test wich screens everything

 

you can take the class however you can not pre-screen the test or the back ground check

 

Anytime on or after your 21st birthday you can take the test and do the background check

The community colleges here offer truck driver and training for CDL license. I'm sure Texas has the same thing. Google the subject or just
try the phonebook.
