Any welders here?
Hey guys, thinking of going back to school to get certified in welding, just so i have something to fall back on.. Really i'm just considering going to trade school in general, welding is just an interest i have. Can anyone recommend a particular school and companies to work for? My local community college offers these courses for the different types of welding:

Still doing my homework on these courses, but if someone has had experience with these certifications, could you tell me what your personal opinions are on it what was the pay like, what kind of responsibilities go with the job.... etc)? Thanks guys!

It was a great school, kinda on the pricey side, around 17k. But that included 10mths of school, all supplies needed and everything. Walked away with 6 out.of 6 certifications. 3 in structual welding and 3 in pipe. MIG. Tig. And stick
I got AWS certified and went straight to work. I just bought a little 220 stick welder and started practicing. Took the full pen weld test and then got hired as an apprentice. I was an apprentice for 3 years and in that time the company I worked for paid for all my certs and tests. By the time I left the trade I had my own welding truck. The trade dried up here in CA and I went back to get my Masters degree in education. Now that field is dried up-- lol. I thought I'd throw out a different route that many people take.
