As far as Flowmaster goes, I see shops all the time doing them for $150.00 not including tips. That's a 40 series. They sell 50 series for 10 bucks more.

Btw, stainless tips will make your life a lot easier!
I'm in South Florida so there's TONS of shops around.........
What's the difference between to 40 & 50 series mufflers???
And is there any advantage to removing the catalytic converter or is that a "no-no"?

I appreciate you guys helping me with this!

So ya'll are suggesting I buy the muffler & SS tips from someplace like "autoanything.com" or EBAY and take it to a shop to have them install everything with their pipes?
I want "duels" so I just need to decide on which muffler I want, right?
And I only need 1 muffler or 2?

Do I need a specific muffler "size", the "inlet" & "outlet" size for the pipe, or will the shop make the pipes to fit any muffler?

Sorry for all the questions, I just wanna make sure I order the right items.
THANKS!

i have a 2007 fx4 with no cats with true dual and flow 40s. there little drone in the cab unless you get on it. idle you cant hear it unless you have absolutely no music on at all. but on the out side it sounds very nice.

You would probably be better off buying the stuff at the shop since most the time they warrant all their welds and products (muffler, tips, etc). If you wanted to buy it yourself you would get a single in/dual out 3 inch inlet/2.5 inch outlet muffler and I personally like a 3.5 inch or 4 inch stainless steel tip. But like I said you would save a bit of time and hastle just buying it from the shop in my opinion

IMO and i had every exhaust setup possible on a vehicle, if the shop won't allow you to bring your own parts in tell them to sit on it, they are just wanting to screw you. the shops up here encourage you to bring what you want, too many people see something and tell them what they want, get it and hate it and then bitch saying that's not what i wanted..here is my advice..see/hear a truck's exhaust you like and ask him, i have done that in the past and have had it done to me, that way you know what your truck will sound like...

oh yea and ask to see their book, most shops will have a book of the work they did, never hurts to see before having them doing...my last experience i tried was BS...i had a 2000 silverado, 5.3., headers, i wanted true duals and no mufflers, straight out the back, 4" x28" tips, ...well next morning after work i noticed water pouring out of the seams, had to take it back to re-weld it. then few days later the rear hanger broke loose, had to take it back again...then it happened on the other side, they couldn't get me in right away, so i was pissed and told them if the tip got damaged i'd expect a free replacement, needless to say we had some words and i told them to stuff it....worth of mouth is a powerful thing.

I know of a couple of shops that will install stuff if I bring it in.......

IF I decide to go that route, I just need to decide on the muffler: single 3" in/3" duels out, if I want duel pipes outta the rear bumper, right?

And then just choose a SS tip, maybe 12" X 3.5"............
Then leave the rest to the shop.
Am I missing anything here or does that pretty much sum it up?

Otherwise I can just go to the MAGNAFLOW shop and hope they have the muffler I want and pay their price.
The truck's in South Florida, I'm in PANAMA til August when I'll pick it up and do some mods so I just want to get this stuff ordered if that's the way I wanna go.

Thanks, ATOM, If I do order the muffler & tips at least it will be what I want, not what they have in stock.
Good Point!
