Default Yes another CAI question

I'm thinking of purchasing a volant for 65.00. I have read i will need to upgrade my edge evo in order not to run too lean. I have also read about the Gotts mod and was wondering. If i did the Gotts mod and a amsoil filter would i also have the lean problem since i would be getting more air flow? My truck is a 2006 5.4l flex fuel. Any help would be great.

The almost lean from the factory issue was primarily limited to 04-05 and a few 06s.

However, the Edge Evo is designed for stock trucks. IMHO opinion, you should get the Evo converted to a Gryphon and get custom tunes if you add an intake.

The Gotts mod does not change the location of the MAF and therefore it can accurately measure the intake air flow rate, so you should be fine.

Having said that, since you can save money by doing the Gotts mod, you could get the Edge converted and get custom tunes. The custom tunes will take full advantage of your added air flow. Definitely a win-win.

Without a custom tune it won't be any better than the Gotts.

Keep an eye on your EGTs. If they start to rise over what you normally see, put the stock intake back on immediately.

It will be louder, giving you the impression of power, but you really need a programmer with a custom tune to take advantage of the intake and remove all risk of running lean.

I'm sorry, but I was mistaken. The diesel versions can monitor the EGT; the has versions can't. Sorry!

I really wouldn't be too worried as long as you keep in level 2 and stay awaya from WOT until you get custom tunes.
