Yeah another P0016 question
I have a 2007 f150 4x4 with 180k miles. It is only throwing a single code, P0016. No misfire and no other timing codes. I am not experiencing many of the issues a lot of others are stating. The only thing going on with my truck is that when i idle it vibrates a bit.
The motor is quiet as can be and doesn’t idle bad when it’s in park. When i put it in drive and hold down the brake it starts to shake a bit. As soon as i hit the gas, it takes right off and runs smooth.
I’ve done nothing yet, but wanted to post here to see if anyone else has experienced this - I can’t seem to find a post with similar experience. Was considering just trying to replace the cam sensor since it seems cheap and quick and also potentially the VCT solenoid?
TIA

A quick google says it could be a few different things and some testing might be in order before you start tossing parts at it:
P0016 - Crank / Cam position correlation
One of the most common causes of P0016 in any vehicle is going to be wiring issues...
After examining the wiring harness, it would be time to check the sensors themselves. Using a simple voltage tester, you’ll be able to determine whether or not they are functioning correctly...
The timing chain or belt will throw cause P0016 to throw. This will happen when it has stretched or jumped a tooth or two...
Crank or Cam Tone/Reluctor Ring - The Crankshaft Sensor is going to use a tone or reluctor ring to determine the position of the Crank. This ring uses notches that are scanned by the Crank Sensor in order to get an accurate position...
