Default Wrench Light and no Throttle

THis moring my wife was driving her 2005 F-150 FX4 4x4 to work when the Wrench light on the Dash Came on and when she pressed the gas pedal there was no responce at all. the truck went to Idle and she moved it off to the side of the road. This will make the second time that this happened in a years time. Has anyone else experienced this? Last year when it happened we took it to the local dealership and there was no Code dropped in the computer so they could not tell us what it was.

Interesting thing is when this happens if you roll to the side of the road and Put it in park and shut the truck off it will clear itself and you can start the truck and proceed on. Like I said its been a year since the last time it happened and this is what I had her do this morning and sure enough it cleared and she proceeded on.

Any help would be appreciated.

The idle air control valve is easily removed and cleaned. No need at all to replace the throttle body. Nevermind-this applies to 03 and older.

That's going to be hard to do when these trucks don't have an IAC.

Doh, you are right! That's 03 and older I was thinking of. Drive by wire does not have one. Strange to throw a IACV code then.

You probably just need a throttle body motor and possibly a throttle position sensor. Rarely have I ever seen or heard of the actual throttle body not working.

Can be swapped out in under an hour.
