Default Would this safely work?

My brother is parting out is 93 Jeep he is use to trail in, I'm going to grab a few things and I have an idea for our trucks. Using a 3" x 6' tow strap I'm going to connect a 3/4 ton D-Ring in each loop to connect to each tow hook. Creating a giant "U" and then attach a free moving d-ring in the middle to attach to the vehicle either I'm pulling out or pulling me out. My assumption is that the strap will full utilize each tow hook for full pull potential, while not binding either one if the chain/strap on the 3rd D-Ring moves left or right. In essence I'm creating a giant "Y." Maybe I can attach a photo or drawing if this doesn't make since.

I get what your trying to do, distributing the load across the V. The problem is where the V meets the free floating D ring is the same load as if you went straight to it with one strap.

Your just over complicating it.

I have actually done something similar but with chain. The "Y" distributes force equally to both tow hooks. Prob be safer with strap, no weak links to worry about!

^^^^^ I agree you are also effectivly doubleing the strap BUT it is a realy bad idea to have that heavy metal D ring on the strap because if you break the strap it will become an unguided projectile with enough force to do serious damage or kill. That is why the so called safty experts recomend you do not use tow or tug straps with metal hooks and D rings should only be used for frame attachment Bubbabud

If you use a 6' strap you will have less than 3' between the rigs.
Straps are to be used in straight line pulls.
A sliding ring will cause abrasion, damaging the strap leading to weakening or failure.

I've seen 8' too...I may just stick to the (2) rings and loop another strap through or hook a chain on it.
