Default Won't accelerate - no dash warning lights?

Ford F-150 4x4 was stopped at a light, removed foot from brake, put foot on gas and it made a high winding sound but would barely move. None of the dash warning lights were on. After coasting 30 seconds I could get it to finally move past 20 mph up to 50. However, after every stop, this is what it did. And I am freaking out because I'm supposed to trade it in tomorrow. Husband says it sounds like transmission (he is not a mechanic nor works on cars ever) and also said the dealer wants to make the sale and knows they're getting an almost 200k mile truck and they won't give me an issue on trade-in. Would appreciate reassurance, wondering what it may be and an honest answer on all. Thanks.

If you've invested in the truck and would like to keep it then get a new tranny.
