Default winter time and power steering?

hey guys, i like to learn as much as i can. i have a 2006 ford f150 fx4 5.4 engine. Anyone else notice a "roughness" in there steering when turning the wheels? the wheel is easy to turn and i dont hear any whining noise. it seems like it has a slight vibration and roughness when turning the wheel. Truck has 56k miles. its also very cold up here, around 10 degrees to 30 degrees.
